After a failed marriage, Kelly Winters moves to the strange Californian coastal town of Haven to join her younger brother, expecting nothing more than a quiet life, new beginnings, and perhaps a little love. Instead, she enters a world of magic and murder. Not only does she learn she's a witch and has a powerful destiny linked to her long-lost parents, but she soon discovers the quaint town is full of secrets, lies, and an underlying darkness.
As the sun rises and the body of a local scuba instructor is pulled from the ocean, Kelly finds herself drawn into a dangerous murder mystery that will challenge everything she believes about herself, the town, and her family's history.
With the clock ticking and a killer on the loose, Kelly must risk everything in order to stop the darkness from taking hold of another innocent life. Now, if she can just get a handle on these new powers, her brothers antics, her batty aunt Barb, and a hot surfer with eyes for her, things might just work out.

This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
I really enjoyed this book, it was obviously a start to a new series and one I want to continue with. A gal moves in with her rich brother after a failed marriage. She doesn't realize she has the potential to be a witch or have magic. There is a murder in town. The whole town seems to have secrets and is small. It leaves the the upcoming books open for a lot of potential. This was a fun romp with a cute guys, crazy antics, trying to figure out magic, and underneath all that there is the need to find the killer. Good book.
The narrator did a fine job of keeping the book flowing smoothly and voices clear and perfectly performed. Nice job.
Hot guys, fun antics,a witch and a killer

Level headed Kelly seems to be more air headed, as although she acts like a strong protagonist, more thoughts and questions run through her head than out her mouth.
Her brother’s character could use a new outline. His supposed millionaire status was from YouTube viewership and its advertising/sponsorship perks, yet he offers to buy Kelly a business and he wanted 3% profits, claiming he made his financial success based on investments.
River, his cameraman, is coerced to take Kelly out and Kelly has her G-string in a bunch because she doesn’t wanna be a notch. FFS, enjoy some company and keep your clothes on. Who are you to dissect a near stranger’s life choice?
So character build up was more like this winter’s melting down and shaky like an aftershock.
The mystery was interesting although “police academy” does not fully train one on investigation matters. Research is a crucual key for a solid, riveting book. Clues were nicely, if not chaoticly, trickled; but the murder mystery was not immediate, due to setting up the new surroundings.
I do think the author is capable of more and better, as the series/first book seems to be going in a forward direction than circles.
I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator, and would give the second book a chance if she lands the job.
A Cozy Witchy Murder Mystery
