Treasure Planet meets Firefly in this epic adventure!
This is book 3 of the 5 book Turrim Archive series. And I thought really hard about how to write a blurb for it, but everything I came up with seemed to give far too many spoilers for what had come in the first two books.
A clean, family-friendly Gaslamp fantasy, this series contains airship pirates, a military academy, a mysterious wizard, genetic engineering, and as you can probably tell by the cover, this installment might even have a few robots!
The story continues here from where it started in The Orb and the Airship and left off in Mantles of Oak and Iron. The stakes are higher. The characters are in the middles of their arcs. And the adventure is ramping up! Come along for the ride! (But seriously, start at book 1).

The way Benjamin Fife adds flair to every character's voice continues to be impressive to no end! Once you dive into his narration it's hard to stop. Very nice for when I want to focus and get some drawing done.
Spoiler warning if you want to go in blind, I won't spoil much but I hate when people don't give one.
While in the last book a lot of the action ends up near the end of the book, this book feels intense all the way through.
The whole team is more separated here than they ever were before, shifting from person to person each chapter. I got so invested in what was happening with one group that the chapter would change and I'd audibly go "nooooo :'(" when the perspective would shift, only to then go "OH!" remembering the tense cliffhanger that I had last left THAT group with!
From unlikely allies and a mystery to hidden secrets the world that Jenelle has written is filled with wonder and excitement but also shows what a single evil man can do with given enough power that sends me so sober in comparison my stomach drops.
There were moments I teared up during decisions characters are forced to make, things they had to do and pasts that still threaten to swallow them whole.
On to something a little sillier, I can not handle heist scenes! Like at all. I get so anxious that something is going to go wrong I get physically nauseous and have to stop watching or reading whatever I'm doing to let myself calm down.
There's luckily only one heist in this book but I had to take a break and listen to music for a bit haha it's okay you can laugh at me.
In unraveling a mystery that started in the previous book there was a moment I considered booting up the previous book to comb through it for bits that I was thinking back on that seemed completely innocent on first listen but on reflection were extremely suspicious. I did refrain from doing so.
On other characters that are still stuck as different characters, I was thinking too much about Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood during the first book so now Captain Marik and Dalmir are stuck as Colonel Roy Mustang and Van Hohenheim respectfully.
There was a funny moment I was legit pogging (if you'll forgive my Gen Z slang) over a character returning from the first book I completely forgot about.
I feel like each book has complimented the others so well I hesitate to call them each better than the last because they've all been so good, how do you improve upon perfection?
I'm a little afraid I'm breezing through these books too fast honestly but they're such a treat I nearly can't help myself from gobbling them all up!
I can't wait to start the next one! Although... I probably should wait... seeing as it's 2:47am... oh no...

This third installment introduces even more subplots each with it's own unique world building elements. unlike the second book I found each subplot in this novel to be equally engaging. I especially enjoyed Dalmar's origin story and the murder investigation subplot featuring Grayden and Baron.
I appreciate series that have the same narrator all the way through. Benjamin Fife once again regals us with his talent for accents and creates a seamless listening experience by keeping the voices consistent for each character even between books.
