Outbreak - Week 1

Presidents, prime ministers, entire governments disappeared instantly, like a fragile house of cards in a hurricane. Some hid deep underground or holed up in fortified strongholds, but most were swallowed up by the dead, never to be heard from again.

Having lost both parents just weeks apart - one to Omega, the other to a brutal beating inflicted by Chinese PLA soldiers - 12-year-old Raven Grayson finds herself in the nation’s new capital, battling loneliness and crushing depression, all while trying to find her place among her fellow transplanted Eden survivors.

Stumbling across a seemingly senseless act of destruction wrought on something near and dear to her, Raven follows the trail of clues left behind. A trail whose terminus offers up a revelation that suggests the life of a very important person may hang in the balance.

With a litany of new laws to navigate, and an indifferent chief of police standing in her way, if Raven is to bring the perpetrators to justice, she must dig deep and apply every skill she has learned in the crucible that is the zombie apocalypse.

What should she do with the evidence she uncovers? Will she adapt and improvise when one pulled string starts unraveling everything, heaping upon her more trouble than she can handle alone?

Or, will the training she has received since the dead began to walk be insufficient for her to overcome all that the infamous Mr. Murphy has in store for her?

Come along and find out how our transplanted survivors fare in their new home away from home!

I tore thru this series and enjoyed hearing how much the author evolved this story as each entry in this series built upon the first. But as in life, all good things must come to an end & Chesser truly took us out on a bang with this final entry in this series. Although I truly hope that perhaps he will follow Raven in the future so we can see how things are going in the future. How the government is reforming, are the zombies being culled so more of the country is being reclaimed, and I'm pretty sure that China isn't going to just give up because of the success of Cade & his cadre of fellow warriors. The characters have continued to develop & grow throughout the series so that by this point, I am truly invested in them and hope that there will be more.

Incredible story! I won’t give away spoilers, but this one kept me on the edge of my seat. I love seeing how the characters have grown through the series.

Best one yet!

Being 14th in a series, the book holds up to the previous 13 and keeps you enthralledwith the day to day fight for survival.

Once again I'm drawn in by Mr. Chesser's attention to detail as much as the storyline itself. In the beginning, I thought it was kind of slow; Raven, Duncan and Damon are out collecting 'Ears' from twice dead Z's from which they get credits. Of course Raven is already far more mature for her twelve, almost thirteen years. (possible spoilers) And she is clearly no longer a child. Her demeanor is harder, no-nonsense which is to be expected after the loss of her mother and father. Thanks to Cade's lessons and the continued guidence she is firecracker ready to explode, unleashing frustations on any that cross her. Duncan and Damon know just when to apply the right 'hand' to keep her in place but for the most part she is left alone. Yes, I did believe the worst but no, he is still alive although still a way from full recovery. Of course we are talking about Cade Grayson and recover he does learning things as he while doing so. Of course the Pale Riders are more then anxious to get him back. And Cade has a mission to complete. While he recovers, joining his old group in the process, Raven has her own quest as she runs across a possible conspiricy that could destroy every thing she and all the survivors have worked for. Now it is up to father and daughter to make sure that doesn't happen.
There is no doubt in either of their minds what needs to be done, Cade using all his training from before the downfall and after while Raven uses all the ingenuity and training she possesses from both parentts. Now the question is...can they pull it off?
It does start slow but there is alot of detail that has to be covered on both their ends but it's worth the wait as both are on a mission and nothing will deter them. Yes. Another great installment to the series. Now the wait for the next one...

Another hit!
