If Gary had known he'd get trapped in an RPG with his real-life stats, he’d have tried harder in gym class.

Gary Burns just wanted to create the greatest RPG campaign of his gaming career. But a freak magical accident sucks him into the very world he created - as himself.

Surrounded by heroes who look and sound like his friends, Gary is forced to play out the story he wrote. Worthless in a fight, Gary must prove himself valuable even if it means feeding the team insider knowledge.

Because he needs to keep his friends close - and himself alive - until he can solve the puzzle he never designed: how to get everyone back home.

Homebrew puts the RPG into litRPG, taking the ever-growing gamelit genre back to its tabletop roots. If you miss the rattle of dice and gaming at a table with your friends, the Metagamer Chronicles are what you've been craving. Fans of Dungeons and Dragons and old TSR novels will love Homebrew.

We have to believe that even though this guy knows he's either unconscious or in some sort of alternate reality that he still won't tell the people he's running with what's ahead really was illogical. He was trying to keep himself alive as well, wasn't he? Yet because in the real world he'd been the DM, he should risk his life instead of actually helping the part is so absurd, that it loss all believability for me. Then, of course, the author ends with a cliff hanger. Well, I'm not planning on listening to any of the sequels.

small issues that really don't detract from the story. kinda caught me off guard at the end.

I liked it

it's a decent start to a series. the author isn't on the level of primal hunter series or the he who fights with monsters series. Bit this is at least worth a listen.

A good start

Picture this your a DM about to start a new campaign with your friends. One of your friends shows up with a "crystal ball thing" and show how it ends up broken.

You find yourself inside the setting of your campaign. All your friends are their characters but only act in character not knowing you.

You find yourself as an underpowered bard with bad stat roles because you never rolled your own character for this campaign. You do however have your knowledge of how the campaign is supposed to work...

Check this out if you enjoy D&D (D20), an original campaign environment, humor, not all problems need to be solved with violence (no muderhobing), good narration, and some reworking on songs you will know (he is a bard in this tale)
