A wildland firefighter falls for his best friend’s widowed sister after she and her kids move in next door, in this flaming hot book three in the BookTok viral Sky Ridge Hotshots series.

“Don’t ever let me hear you talk about yourself like that, do you understand? You’re perfect just like this.”

Being a hotshot wildland firefighter is all I've ever known. It's my greatest passion. This job is dangerous, and after watching my parents' marriage fail because of it, I knew long ago I'd never be a relationship kinda guy.

That all changes when Teddy moves in down the street. As her brother’s best friend, I’ve always been Xander to her, but secretly I’ve always wanted to be more. She’s recently widowed, with two young kids and another soon on the way. With a heart locked up like Fort Knox after losing her husband, breaking down Teddy's defenses will be damn near impossible...but I want to show her that I'm here to stay.

As superintendent, my duty to my crew has always been my priority. But with Teddy's heart on the line, can I give up the only life I've ever known? Or am I doomed to be honor bound and lose the only woman I've ever loved?

This book was such a wild ride after Callahan and Rowan. Xander just hits different in this series, he is written so incredibly well. I’m definitely interested in reading Danielle’s other books after reading this one.
While the spice was slightly less exciting in this one compared to Fight and Protect, a delicious slow-burn was introduced that allowed me to get excited regardless as things began to heat up.
Teddy was a curvy FMC with many insecurities, and Danielle did an awesome job creating Teddy’s character without letting us get a superficial impression of the FMC or make it entirely about her curves. The concept of love after loss for both characters was also dissected beautifully in this story.
I also really appreciated the way that Danielle was able to show us so much of the first two couples within this book, as well as the amount of fire-fighting we saw happening throughout this plot.

MAMA🥵

Lawd. If my husband spoke to me this way, he’d have to go get his vasectomy reversed. 🥵

This book is beautiful and honestly it’s my favorite of the three which is a hard choice because I love the entire series so much. People are complaining about the way the books ends, but the end is what made this feel so real. Compromise comes from both sides of a relationship, not just one. & in the end they both overcame their struggles and fears as a whole. It’s honestly the perfect ending, they give each other what the other needed while finding their own inner strength and truth. That’s love. Promise, strength, letting go of the fear, supporting each other, and growing together. That’s what defines love. & second chance romance is my favorite trope. This one was even more beautiful as it was a second chance after loss. Definitely a reread series for me! Sure the spicy scenes might be a little cheesy but I loved it all.

Heartbreakingly beautiful and my favorite of the 3
