Dave Marwood is trapped in a soul-crushing dead-end job. He's in love with his work colleague Melanie and his only friend Gary is a conspiracy theory nut.

His life is going nowhere until he has a Near Death Experience—though Death thinks of it as a Near Dave Experience. He discovers gifts he never knew he possessed and a world he never dreamed existed. A world where the Grim Reaper is a hard-drinking, grumpy Billy Joel fan and the undead are bored, lonely, and dangerous.

Good performance and a good story; nothing world changing and I won't get the second volume, but good enough to keep my interest.

A bit too much fantasy&magic, but good fresh ideas

I listened (obviously) to these first 3 books in the How To Be Dead series and will soon be putting eyes to their pages.

Excellently written and voiced, however, there so many great instances of humor (made even better because the humour was hysterically British), that I want to revisit them; sure I missed a few, as well (damned NJ traffic).

I LOL’ed at Death

There is nothing to dislike other than “The End”. Hopefully there will be more books in the future!!

Refreshing

I enjoyed this book. I was looking for something to hold me over while I wait for the next in another series. The book reminded me of “On a Pale Horse” by Piers Anthony which I enjoyed so I gave it a listen. The story moved at a good pace and the character were likable. Overall it’s not a great piece of literature but it is a fun romp and worth a read.

Good piece of brain candy
