this book explains how to step by step get through to the teen by earning their trust and opening communication paths by being present, listening and supporting my teen blindly and letting them find their own way by letting go enough to let them fail and being there if and when they need you. I realize how difficult it is not switching tracks when needed. going from teaching\ protecting and preventing failure to giving up control and supporting that I love and support them to find their own way without advising, criticisms and never having condescending undertones. I became aware of my behavior that was causing my teens low self esteem and co dependent behavior leading to his poor decision making.
