One writer, one editor, one hot summer . . . Will this be a romance for the books?

Ciara Sheridan’s father has left her with three things: a sprawling and distinctly ramshackle estate on the Irish coast, the outline for the finale to his bestselling epic fantasy series that he wanted her to finish—and writer’s block.

Enter Sam Avery: Frank Sheridan fanboy and hotshot editor, sent from the New York publishing house direct to Ciara’s doorstep—red pen ready.

At first, Ciara and Sam butt heads with crackling energy. But with the deadline looming, Ciara and Sam have just a few weeks to stop bickering, write this novel, and secure Frank's legacy.

As the summer heats up, so, too, does the tension between them. Will their own love story be the plot twist neither of them see coming?

I’ve read and enjoyed Catherine Walsh’s other novels and they keep getting better. I really like how she was able to express Ciara’s ambivalence towards her father and the world he created. I understood how she could be proud of his novels and yet resent them for taking her father away from her so often. I loved how the author showed that feelings are complex and often even conflicting. And Sam’s character grew on me in the same way he grew on Ciara. Very clever writing. I will be auto-buying her novels from here on out!
My one complaint is that the female narrator narrated Sam with an Irish accent (he’s American) and the male narrator narrated Ciara with an American accent (she’s Irish) which I found to be a little annoying.

Catherine Walsh is now an auto-buy author for me

This book is a delight. Ireland, love story, friendship, slightly steamy, slow burn. It’s just what the doctor ordered

Lovely and sweet

This is not a cookie-cutter romance—which was what was so great. It has it all: interesting setting; well-developed plot; complicated, authentic characters; and even a little spice. I wish there were more of these!
