This novelette picks up where the original book, Hullaba Lulu: a Diesel-Punk Adventure, stopped. Although it’s vague about some characters and events mentioned in that first story, to avoid giving spoilers.
A majestic gold reindeer automaton arrives in Lulu’s abandoned 1920s subway station, with the gobsmacking news that Santa Claus has been abducted by evildoers who want to stop Christmas forever. Can Lulu and the “angel-bot” automatons save Christmas?
.
Some readers call Lulu a great role model. I tend to agree. However, please be advised that she is a flapper to the core — she is uninhibited, drinking, dancing, often belching or hiccupping, and generally being full-on, unapologetically herself. As the song said, “Don’t bring Lulu, I’ll bring her myself.” I don’t apologize for Lulu’s behavior any more than she would.
Enjoy the ride. It’s the cat’s pajamas!
