In the quaint town of Nightfall, Oregon, it isn't the dark you should be afraid of—it's the girls. The Lost Boys meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer in this propulsive novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Treatment.

"With an addictive pace and a gender flip of your classic vampire story, In Nightfall is both a teenage thrill ride and a nightmare."—The New York Times (Books to Read If You Love the Twilight Series)

Theo and her brother, Marco, threw the biggest party of the year. And got caught. Their punishment? Leave Arizona to spend the summer with their grandmother in the rainy beachside town of Nightfall, Oregon—population 846 souls.

The small town is cute, when it’s not raining, but their grandmother is superstitious and strangely antisocial. Upon their arrival she lays out the one house rule: always be home before dark. But Theo and Marco are determined to make the most of their summer, and on their first day they meet the enigmatic Minnow and her friends. Beautiful and charismatic, the girls have a magnetic pull that Theo and her brother can't resist.

But Minnow and her friends are far from what they appear.
And that one rule? Theo quickly realizes she should have listened to her grandmother. Because after dark, something emerges in Nightfall. And it doesn’t plan to let her leave.

I purchased this book, because I saw the author post about it on Twitter. Rarely do I purchase YA, but I wanted to give this book a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Some YA is more Adult than Young. This was a perfect YA and I would feel comfortable listening in the car with my teens. It reminded me of the movie Lost Boys. I did correctly guess the antagonist about halfway through the book, but I am also in my 40s and listen to hundreds of books a year. Again, this is a perfect YA book. This book kept me intrigued and I finished it within 24 hours.

the book was actually really good, but i felt like it didn't live up to it's full potential. there were a lot of things I really wish were expended upon but overall still a very good read. I wasn't the biggest fan of the ending but that's just my personal preference and stuff, there was nothing objectively wrong with it.
other then that, the narrator was amazing.

honestly I wish it was longer

I don't usually read books about vampires but the story sounded good so I gave it a try and I'm glad I did. the only complaint I have is that there was so many character. names and that sounded alike.
