Jason and Margot decide that they will introduce her to the family over an annual ball dinner that is coming up the next week. Margot stays at her best behavior throughout the ball and Jason’s siblings and his aunt seem to take an instant liking to her warm nature. She even dances with his family at the ball. However Jason’s parents, especially his mother and his aunt’s husband seem to resent Margot almost unnaturally and don’t accept their relationship. Jason tries really hard to appeal to his father and Margot wins him over after a series of efforts, after which they agree to the marriage. Jason’s mother however is unimpressed with his decision and tries to create a discord in the marriage preparations by picking fights with Margot’s family. She tries to shame and humiliate them and this causes a lot of strain of Jason and Margot’s relationship. Margot almost breaks off the marriage and leaves but that makes Jason critically ill, which leads his mother to see how much they really care for each other and she accepts the marriage.
