This story starts with the forgotten series then you have to read the sheriff and Caleb card stories but where is MAX great books very enjoyable reading ... BUT where is MAX

I tried to finish, but it’s a slog. Had to stop at chapter 27. The characters are bland. Love the narrator in other books but I don’t think the source material is a good fit.
