Serina Spring is trading in her blossoming real estate career in Manhattan and an ex-boyfriend to start anew in Naples, Florida. But playing cards with her matchmaking grandmother was not exactly the exciting new life she had in mind.

So, when Serina spies a handsome stranger at an open house, she thinks her luck just might be changing. Then again? Maybe not.

Fortunately, while on the white sandy beaches of Southwest Florida, Serina discovers that all is not what it seems if you just open yourself up to fate.

This short story originally appeared in the anthology From Florida with Love: Moonlight & Steamy Nights from Satin Romance.

I love a good small town romance, and this one was just long enough for my walk! Tara September writes wonderful, romantic novels and this short story just shows her talent. After Serina's relationship ended, she realized she wanted to get away from the fast paced life of Manhattan. Moving in with her grandmother seemed like a great solution. Back to her roots, a slower pace where she can make a difference and flourish in her career, she was ready to start her new life. Then the fun begins! Who better than to set you up on a blind date than your grandmother? I can tell you, if she finds a Grayson for every Serina, it's well worth the blind date! Romance is in the air and it's sweet and charming! I can't wait to delve into the next romantic beach read!

Elizabeth Klett is a fantastic narrator, I always love her performances, and this one is no exception. She brings all the characters to life, from the grandmother and her friends to Serina to Grayson. Each one distinct and spot on personalities. I loved this listen!

3.5 stars. A very short, very sweet listen. Two childhood friends (?) meet up again through a blind date set up by their grandmothers. Huh!? Cute.
Just under 1 hour long, a very quick feel good story.
I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. The narrator read very slow and precise. It almost felt forced. Not enough emotion for me. I was not impressed with her male voice either. But ok for this short listen. 3 stars for her.

Grandmothers know best.

Being a fan of Tara September’s other work, I was thrilled to snag this new release during Audible’s big sale last month. At just under an hour this was a quick low-angst listen. Entirely from Serina’s perspective, it’s an enjoyable “how they got together” closed door romance. (the spicy factor is a few internal musings and a single kiss toward the end) While this short story is not exactly a “meet cute” it had a lot of the traits I love about those.

Narration:
This was my first time listening to Elizabeth Klett and I thought she was the perfect fit for the story.

Set in Florida and packs fresh-start vibes, this was cute, mostly. I liked the female lead, I liked the setting—I’d have liked to read more, or seen more of a HFN than such an abrupt declaration of love. (I’ve nothing against instalove but this was even more ‘instant’ than that!)

Had a lot going for it though, and not a bad way to spend a half hour or so at all.

3 stars.

Audio:
Awful—thank goodness this was a short read, as the narration was awful. It’s completely devoid of any emotion, and the volume sorta dips up and down, just slightly enough that it sounds robotic. If I enjoyed AI-narration, I could just buy eBooks and have Siri read them to me, I’d have no need for true audiobooks.
(The narrator does have a great voice and varies it slightly for different characters—if she opted to perform the piece, instead of robotically dictating it, she’d be an amazing narrator, I suspect.)

If you’re picky about narrators, be sure to check the sample before committing to this one in audio format. Truly awful—if this story were any longer, I’d have missed out to it, unable to tolerate this noise.
1 star on this front, only because the overall sound quality is clear and crisp, otherwise it’d be zero for the awful narration.

Cute short, poor narration.
