Teacher Patrick Healy traveled around the world, talked with people in different places, and collected around half a thousand myths, legends, and folktales and their several alternative versions. His opinion and comments (directly or indirectly) are inevitable.

This audiobook is the eighth volume of his work, 21 Japanese Tales, in his words. He retold the stories with his own opinion and approach to them.

Patrick is an Australian writer who has an abiding interest in the folklore of different cultures. He has lived and worked in Hong Kong for more than 25 years as a high school teacher. Patrick has traveled extensively throughout Asia and spoke both Cantonese and Mandarin fluently.

This is an engaging collection of Japanese stories retold by Patrick Healy. I enjoy hearing tales from around the world and was not disappointed in this book. The author does a nice job of collecting many different stories and tales from Japanese Folklore for everyone to enjoy. Each story gives us a different set of characters and events that were nicely narrated by Denise Kahn.

I received this audiobook at my request and I voluntarily wrote a review.
