Tattoo artist Cory Easton has been going through the motions - taking care of his grandmother and his dogs while working long hours - and staying busy enough to keep the noise in his head at bay. Until he lays eyes on the quiet and aloof skateboarder Jude York, who is so unreadable, unreachable, and unlike anyone else, he arouses Cory's curiosity.

As captivating and complex as his ink, Jude is a mystery, and Cory falls fast and hard under his spell. But rumors about Jude's past overshadow him, whispers of secrets keeping him under the thumb of a local motorcycle club. As Cory digs deeper, he begins to wonder how much he really wants to know.

Except their connection is magnetic, and Jude's loneliness seems to mirror Cory's own. Against his better judgment, Cory longs for another opportunity to make the guy smile, even if peeling back too many layers scares the hell out of him. Because Jude has awakened something inside him that's been buried far too long - and losing him as well might just be Cory's undoing.

Contains mature themes.

I love Jude so much, just wanted to put him in my pocket and keep him safe. I loved the idea of Cory and Jude. Neither character over indulgent or overly dramatic and just the right tempo for a lazy day listen.
Both story and delivery were great.

Sweet - slow romance.

Even with the Amazing Iggy Toma narrating, with the exception of the last 1.5 hrs this book is slow dry and boring.

Boring.....

I tend to avoid the biker bar books - in fact the series that this book is semi related to was one I just couldn't do. However this little gem of hard knocks has a lot to offer. No gleaming model perfect guys here, which is a plus when book after book is about abs and square jaws. The love of a dog doesn't hurt either.

Iggy Toma is one of my favorites, but only when he is solo. His distinctive vocal tone doesn't always play well with others. Fortunately he is given free reign here and is thoroughly enjoyable! Toma isn't always great with accents, so not a five star here.

One thing I typically enjoy with Lee is the focus on feelings, and how the characters react to their feelings. These two lonely guys are caught in a dance of sorts, with Jude deciding he needs to remain alone, and Cory unwilling to let go. The moments where Jude lets him in are very sweet, and Jude's connection to dogs is also endearing. Cory acknowledging that he doesn't want to be alone anymore is something a lot of people on the periphery experience.

The story does have some undercurrents of danger that play out quite well. There is just the right amount of the biker scene, and Cory's tattoo studio is smartly used as a place of connection. Highly recommend this title.

Kudos for being different!
