Ironworker Wayne Colson and his spirited wife Carmen are witnesses to a shakedown scam — witnesses who must be eliminated. Enter Armand Degas (a.k.a. Blackbird), the brains of the operation, and his partner Richie Nix, an ex-con whose highest goal is to rob a bank in every state. After the Colsons enter the Federal Witness Security Program, a lively chase ensues — with two bumbling but determined killers on Wayne and Carmen's trail.

With its dead-on dialogue, memorable characters, and absolute authenticity, Killshot is one of Elmore Leonard's all-time great novels.

And superbly narrated by Ron McLarty. I’ve listened to many Leonard’s, and McLarty is right up there with Atkins Howard (e.g., “The Hot Kid”). As usual, Leonard beautifully draws his characters, with a lowlife murderous punk and a Mafia hitman on one side, and a happily married working class couple on the other. Highly recommend.

Another superbly written Elmore Leonard

Fun little yarn but lacking depth... really missing the mark in some areas where story development could have benefitted the listener.

predictable

Loved the story, loved the characters, loved the voice, perfectly read in every way. Only thing that was a bother, the volume of the reader wasn't consistent. Sometimes seeming far away, and I had to turn up or turn down the volume to accommodate.

Thrilling.

pulp with a decent amount of fun to be had. couldn't really get behind any of the characters. I wound up liking the bad guys better than the good guys. Good dialog; a strength of Leonard's. I liked the narration.

No likable characters

Disappointing. Performance was quite good but story often boring as it went down several rabbit holes with too much detail. I’m a fan of Elmore Leonard but believe this is not up to his usual high standard.

Not so good
