Everything about my life has been pretty normal working as a forensic autopsy technician. Until the day I woke up with a mysterious symbol tattooed on my arm.  

Suddenly normal no longer existed. The barrier between Earth and a world called Under, dissolved....  

Now I'm trapped with dozens of other people. Held prisoner by the creators of myths and legends, where the realm is ruled by two masked kings who want to turn us into creatures like them.  

But even though I didn't choose to be here, this new world manages to pull me deeper, affecting me differently than other humans. Unfortunately, King Edu, also known as the King of Flames, notices this and I'm now considered a threat.  

If I want to survive King Edu and the dangers of Under, I need to escape. The only problem is, there's another masked king who seems to have an interest in me. Aon, the King of Shadows, wants me here in this world, and he wants me alive.  

I just need to figure out why.

First, be warned! Only the first three books of the series are on audiobooks with no plans announced to record the rest of them. As a vision impaired reader this is an issue since book three does end in a cliffhanger.
The books themselves are wonderful and highly recommended. I hope that the remainder are made available in audio format someday.

I have been a fan of Under since the series first came out. I was nervous about how the narrator would performed since I have read the stories. She was great! Loved her voice and all the characters she did. Brought the story of Under to life agian for me!

I first read this series and Kindle and it immediately became one of my favorites. I had to buy the audio versions as soon as they came out and am really pleased with how they turned out. Under is one of the most interesting alternate worlds I have encountered in a long time, and I will return to these characters again and again. Highly recommended!!

i've read the series, so FYI, the romance (such as it is) is in later books. You'll clearly see the villain that she'll become entwined with in this book. I love this story; it's intense, emotional, creative, fantastic, and this entirely original world is thoroughly thought out. I liked the narrators performance, except Aon's voice is too one-note. When I read it, I hear more sardonic humor in my mind. Aon here sounds a bit like an uptight butler in a Victorian-era gothic romance. Otherwise, the vocal characterization of other characters is great. As of right now, the last three books in the series are no longer on Audible. If you're willing to read visually to finish the series, it's worth getting. There's a good balance of fantasy, horror, and personal feelings. Just know Aon is villainous. That's Kinglsey's gig.

I just came across this book while half heartedly browsing. Only one credit left and I didn’t want to waste it. Just couldn’t quite settle for any one book. Luckily I happened to stumble over this gem and put it on while I kept looking. Pretty soon I stopped looking and started to really pay attention. This is definitely a credit worthy story so I feel extra lucky I scored it while in the free catalog! Not only did I get a very satisfactory story but now I know what to use my last credit on! The second book in the series of course!

The book did have some dual narration ( AKWAYS a plus) and I thought all the narration was well done. I absolutely recommend this book !!! Take advantage of such a find being free! If it costs a credit now…you know what still do it! I’m so keyed up for the next book! Oh man it better deliver!
