The third book in the thrilling #1 New York Times bestselling series!

In this breathless third installment to Victoria Aveyard’s #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen series, rebellion is rising and allegiances will be tested on every side. Perfect for fans of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.

Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother's web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare's heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.

When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire—leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.

Keeps the story moving ahead nicely. It was a surprise to suddenly have not one, not two, but THREE points of view in this story. Not sure I loved it, but see the necessity in telling a complete story. Overall, though, this book has me ready to read the next one in the series!

A tense page-turner

the first two thirds of this book are filled with anguish Despair and pain. No happiness no cheeky comic relief just anguish. Had the first two books not been as good as they were, I would have spared myself the misery. It ends well, and the writing is excellent. just needed something in the beginning to break up the dismay.

Well written but...

While, I'm a fan of this author, I can't say I was a fan of this production. The book was okay but I couldn't get past the voice of Cameron. It was far to flat and emotionless for me. It took away from the character and the overall performance of the book for me.

A bit disappointed

I give five stars to Amanda Dolan.
I give five stars to Erin Spencer.
I almost wanted to skip the chapters that were read by Adenrele Ojo. In fact, she bored me so much that I even started to dislike the character of Cameron.

I enjoyed the story even though some of the things that happened made me a little frustrated. I’m just hoping that it will all be resolved in the end. I do like the fact that we got to have an insight of some characters who were easily hated in the other books. I am also still hoping that Mavin will turn out to be a good person. I had really liked him, and the friendship he had with Mare. I do like Cal, but he’s frustrating in the fact that he cannot take his own stand. I am frustrated with Mare because she is also stubborn and will not compromise with Cal.

It better be resolved quickly! Ha ha.
