In wicked times, heroes are treated like villains.

"You're not wanted in Dry Gulch," they tell Kip Callahan when he rides into town.

This valley is on the brink of a range war, and Kip knows he'll probably catch lead if he sticks around, but someone framed and lynched an innocent man, and Kip is determined to uncover the truth.

Then there's Ursula Hoffman, a beautiful but headstrong young woman whose ranch is at the very heart of the conflict. Ursula doesn't think much of Kip and doesn't even want his help, but she's the sister of an old friend, so Kip vows to protect her whether she likes it or not.

As Kip unravels the mystery, he reveals sprawling corruption that threatens not only Dry Gulch but the whole Western frontier. How can one man stand against a ruthless cattleman, an army of hired guns, and a powerful syndicate?

It was awful short, almost like a short story. I think two of the stories should be combined to one. I’m used to 8-12 reads not 4-5 hours!

Great story, engaging!

i would have liked about a back story on Kip before he got to Dry Gulch. You did give some hints throughout the book.

How much this book reminded me of others by David Deacan. I enjoy everthing writes.

I enjoy the dry humor ...the typical infacuation of Ursula for Truman, because of her age.. and how gradually she came to see through his false face he presented to the public.
the fast moving plot, the reasonable length of books and Audible ...or text to speech for the unlimited.
Yet I prefer to listen to C T Chandler . His voice quality and the inflection and tone for teasing, happy, sad, angry, fear, all ad to the enjoyment over text to speech...

The faith in God and the search for truth

Loved this book, especially the ending sentence! It tied other John Deacon’s books together.

The entire book was full of intrigue and unexplained events that were eventually tied together.

Combine that with A. T. Chandler’s awesome narration and the book is a delight!
