Austin Rising
Chains shattered. A Holy Child slain. The whole world wants his head.
Percy committed the unthinkable—he killed the Holy Child, a sadistic noble who enslaved his best friend. Branded a heretic and a monster, he’s now the target of every bounty hunter, zealot, and power-hungry mage looking to claim his life for glory.
Armed with a powerful bloodline, a brand-new blessing, an evolving familiar, and the ancient wisdom of Zoris—a fallen god bound to a cursed ring—Percy must carve his way through Remior’s strongest champions.
Each encounter is a test, every day a new level of the endless boss rush, and the gods themselves watch his rise with both hope and fear. The greed of the Divine Root grows stronger… and so does Percy.
One world. One wish. One heretic too angry to die.
©2026 K. Georgiades (P)2026 Mountaindale PressThis book was great, same as the three before. If I had to rate them I’d say this one was my favorite followed by Phantom of the Haunted Bog, Whispers of the Ghost Alchemist and Shadow of the Holy Child though I would say that if I’m just taking what had the highest highs I would actually say Shadow of the Holy Child.
I loved loved loved the trip to Amenthus, I really wish we would’ve been able to spend more time there talking with the Daughter of Heaven. As usual Percy is pragmatic and does things according to what HE wants and feels is right which I actually really appreciate from a character despite how often times it has him doing not great things.
Magic system and worldbuilding as always is amazing, cosmology is great and I love the time we spend on other worlds. I’d say this book comes the closest, at least for me, to a perfect book. I loved loved loved the crafting talk and the deep strategy that goes into all the fights and everything.
I’ve overall really liked the pacing of the series though some parts in Shadow of the Holy Child did drag a bit, particularly our stay in Melodia, though I’d say we don’t run into that issue in this installment. I’m so looking forward to the next one, just sad it’s gonna take a good bit longer wait than with the other books.
Again I say this is now my favorite series, it has almost everything I look for. Great world, great magic system, amazing pacing, motivated mc, actually smart gods that aren’t oblivious to everything and lots of crafting. Only note I’d say which is just a personal opinion, I wanna spend more time with some of the other characters. I know it’s Percy’s story and he is the “Lone Wanderer” but still, just my personal preference.
Five stars, another home run
