Pratchett's story is a Granny Weatherwax tale, where she maxes out her Headology skills. If what I just wrote sounds interesting, you will love the short--if not, get one of Pratchett's earlier books first.
Card surprised me--I've only read his first two books, and having one set in 1820s America really surprised me. The short is still fantasy, given the subtle powers of some of its characters, but certainly not of the conventional "set in 15th century England" type...and for that reason, that particular novella was my favorite of the three.
Great Writers, Great Narration, Money well spent

I actually listened to the Robert Jordan story when it first came out so I know it's good.
I'm giving it five stars because of the Terry Pratchett story.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Only if they like Orson Scott Card's Alvin Maker series. If you’ve listened to books by the authors before, how does this one compare?
I've read/listened to everything (really!) written by Terry Pratchett. His universe is interesting and funny and lends itself to satire and a poke at us. I enjoyed this story, too. Jordan's world begins with this novella. If it interests you, read (listen to) the series. It does capture the imagination. I don't like the Alvin Maker series and this story did not keep me interested at all. I can't figure out why...Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, but it is a short story book so it lends itself to short listens as you can. A good listen when commuting to work and back. Some wonderful, some not
