Lonely Heroes is an action-packed adventure which covers the incredible life of a CIA agent, and his Israeli counterpart. From thwarting Putin's plans to make billions from a harrowing deception: to working with Zera, Israel's top agent, to damaging the Iranian nuclear weapons program before it goes active. Zera, and Roger Taylor, the CIA's best, are ultimately enlisted by a powerful alien being into stopping a heinous plot to blind every living thing on Earth. Roger and Zera must travel into space to save the Earth, and other friendly aliens from extinction.

I have listened to this story twice in the past week (I blame my short attention span and me not paying attention' not the author) and this is the second book by the author I've listened to. I love the memoir style of writing and the small bits of fact sprinkled through out the story. While I enjoyed the story I think the first book in the series, Time will tell, was able to catch my attention and hold it through out. I can't wait to listen to the third book in the series.

An enjoyable story

Lonely Heroes, on Audible, takes you on an action-packed journey into other worlds. The story is a perfect combination of suspense, colorful characters (you won't stop thinking about Zera), aliens (some friendly) and humor.
The voicing was excellent and made for a fluid listening experience.
Upnick manages to also slip in a message of hope, no mean feat, in these days of pandemic and one for which this listener is grateful.

After a short but very eventful career as a CIA agent during which he foils Putin's plot to make billions by manipulating the market, Roger and his Israeli wife get recruited to save earth from a sinister alien plot to blind the entire population and take over the world. Having developed a taste or the life of a hero, they then proceed into space to save other worthy races.
Written as a first person narrative from Roger himself, the story is told with a dry wit and a sense of adventure which will delight fans of space war science fiction.
There's plenty of action, a variety of alien races and a useful Deux ex machina in the form of the Defender, a time travelling super alien who recruits and befriends the couple.
An engaging story that was a lot of fun.

As always, I have to state that this book was given to me for free in exchange for a review.
I always like to state that this does not impact my review or my opinion of the book. My reviews are honest and my own opinion of the story, performance, and overall thoughts on the book.

I really liked how this story is written to TELL you the story, versus showing you the story as most novels are written.

The narrator is different from the first book and I think I might have even preferred this one. It certainly felt a lot easier to listen to than the previous book, but that could just be because I was more used to what I was listening to. I flew through this read, it is fairly short and the action steadily continues throughout.

Surprisingly Great Read!
