“Time is what keeps the light from reaching us. There is no greater obstacle to God than time: and not only time but temporalities, not only temporal things but temporal affections, not only temporal affections but the very taint and smell of time.”

In another sermon, Meister Eckhart highlights the importance of "the vast silence within" using these words:

“There is a vast silence inside each of us that beckons us into itself, and the recovery of our own silence can begin to teach us the language of heaven.”

Much has been said about this controversial monk, who was simply ahead of his time, and whose writings have experienced a revival in recent years, not only among Christians of all denominations, but also among Zen Buddhists, Sufi Muslims, Advaita Vendanta Hindus, Jewish Cabbalists, and countless other spiritual seekers.
