One of Hollywood's biggest players for almost 50 years, Darryl F. Zanuck presided over Twentieth Century-Fox during its most glorious era. These were the studio's golden days, with stars like Marilyn Monroe and Henry Fonda, directors like John Ford and Elia Kazan, and blockbusters like All About Eve and The Grapes of Wrath. Using Zanuck's own correspondence, author Rudy Behlmer presents a from-the-top look at the elements that went into making a feature film during the colorful days of the old studio system. Full of secrets and surprises, this treasure trove of legend and lore is as entertaining as it is informative.

The only problem for me was he sounded like he recorded it in the bathroom.

Interesting Book!

Though the audio could be cleaned up a bit, you have years worth of memos read to you that are to and from one of the greatest members of the Hollywood film industry.

You literally become privy to years of memos.

I was expecting more. This is a biased reading of memos from Zanuck. It's hard to believe there are no controversial momo's or anything that showed his alleged tough and iron handed behavior.

When will authors quit reading their stuff. The narration sounded as if it was recorded in the 40's.

Biased with bad narration.
