In May 2006, BBC Audiobooks ran a competition to search for the "Young Voice of Bath". Twelve finalists attended workshops held by Lorelei King and Simon Shepherd, and later auditioned for the chance to feature in the recording of an audiobook. Moonmallow Smoothie is a story about Sam and his struggle to help his dad save his Ice Cream Parlour, which is steadily going bankrupt, thanks to competition from Karbunkle's mega-emporiums. But it isn't any old meteorite; this one has super freezing qualities, which make it perfect for making ice-cream. Everyone loves Dad's fab new recipe, and a famous hotel even asks him to make a special batch in the shape of a poodle for a rock star's party. But Dad's old enemies are determined to spoil his success. Sam sniffs a rat, but can he act in time and save the day?
