Jessica Fletcher’s British cousin, Emma MacGill, will be traveling to Edmonton in Alberta, Canada, to perform with internationally famous star of stage, screen, and television Derek Braverman in an old-fashioned musical revue.

Emma would love for Jessica to join her there and suggests she bring along some friends. Having just finished her latest book, Jessica is ready for a vacation and is delighted to agree. Dr. Seth Hazlitt and Sheriff Mort Metzger are huge fans of Braverman, so they are eager to tag along, and their fanboy behavior gives Jessica and Mort’s wife, Maureen, more than occasional cause to roll their eyes.

Upon arrival in Edmonton, Jessica is quickly outed as mystery writer J. B. Fletcher, and despite numerous protests, a hotel staffer arranges a book signing for her. This and touristy adventures arranged for the group make for a much busier trip than Jessica was expecting. When a hotel bartender, who also happens to be a stagehand for Emma’s play, turns up dead backstage at the theater, Jessica’s fun and relaxing vacation quickly becomes anything but.

I love this series, and this book didn’t disappoint. Great narration and story. Of course, I loved having Jessica’s dear friends involved plus a new character, cousin Emma.

Travel + all the fave characters + introducing cousin Emma

I watched every episode of Murder She Wrote multiple times and I am so happy to continue my enjoyment through audio books. I was not able to guess the killer and was engaged in the story every minute.

Another excellent book

I love how the author stays true to the character of JB Fletcher. I have been searching for an adaptation of the same caliber as the Donald Bain books. However, until now, I have been disappointed as other authors have tried to reinvent JB. Eliminating her class and genuinely humble nature which ultimately presents her as a slightly snooty know-it-all busybody/“Karen”. There is a thin line and so it is refreshing to read work that taps into authentic Jessica! Great Book!

Classic Jessica

Narration was close to the character and character development was deep and satisfying and quite enjoyed

I loved the way the characters are developed & inserted at the correct times to leave a clue, if one’s paying attention. There’s enough subterfuge to lead the reader in one direction while the plot unfolds in a totally different way. The descriptive work that is put into the story brings the reader right along with the characters & the places visited that it’s like you’re actually with them every step of their journey.
