I’m interviewing with nice-guy, Silicon Beach millionaire Mason Callaway to cater the desserts at his birthday bash. His name can open doors and I really want this gig. So, I go for it. I pop on Instagram and research his foodie posts. I spend hours concocting confections for him to taste.
I wait at a microbrewery to meet up with him when a Boho-styled brunette clutching a beer trips on her six-inch platforms. She hurtles through the air, drenches me in pale ale, and lands on the pastry box filled with my desserts, flattening them. There is chocolate -- everywhere. "Oopsi-daisies," she says. "I’m Maisey.”
Turns out, Maisey is Mason’s ex-girlfriend and she's been semi-stalking him for a while now. He implored her to stop. She tried but she can't. He filed a temporary restraining order. Ha-ha! She doesn't care.
In a weird twist of fate --I still get the catering gig. What could possibly go wrong?
