As Sid, Kiera, and Marge head home from a relaxing beach vacation, they get caught in the outer bands of a hurricane and are forced to seek shelter in an old motel along the Georgia coast. After a downed tree blocks the only motel exit, they find themselves stuck without power, cell service, or gasoline… but with a dead body. With little else to occupy their time, Sid and Kiera set out to investigate the murder but don’t get far before the body mysteriously disappears and, with it, any clues.

Between the brusque motel manager’s unwillingness to help and the other guests’ desperation to get home, getting answers isn’t easy. Undeterred, Sid and Kiera enlist the help of Marge, who is more than happy to help them investigate their fellow lodgers. Is one of the quirky guests actually a cold-blooded killer? Will they be able to find the dead body before the authorities arrive? More importantly, will they be able to ID the killer before there’s another murder?

Sid, Kiera and Marge are on their way home from their vacation, but they find themselves driving thru the outer bands of a hurricane. With visibility limited, they pull off the highway and head towards a motel. They are lucky to find two rooms available and settle in to wait out the storm. The next day they find the exit from the motel parking lot blocked by a fallen tree. They also find a fellow guest at the motel has been murdered. With electricity down, Kiera uses her taco truck to feed the other guest as they wait to leave the parking lot to get help. Kiera and Sid begin to investigate why the murdered man used a fake name and who of the other guests might have wanted to kill him.

When a hurricane strands Kiera, Sid and Marge at The Sand Dollar Motel along the Georgia coast, their vacation may be over … but the adventure is just beginning! The Sand Dollar’s may be small, kinda old, and kinda run down, but it’s the only safe haven around! Unfortunately, it’s safe haven to a few others with agendas … then there’s the cantankerous owner who seems …well, a bit … off … what with “Murder and the Hurricane” and all! The characters are inventive, colorful and uniquely different, yet completely believable! I LOVE how they not only span the full spectrum of like-ability, but grow and evolve WITH the story … and the story, what a stunner! I listened right straight through! There was no stopping me! I loved the “feel”. I had to know! I can’t give any details … that might give away some of the “oh holy WOW’s of this one … just know there are some BRILLIANTLY conceived twisty turns, and not all is how it seems at the Sand Dollar! The plot is spectacular, the recipes a delight, the narration pure ear candy, AND the complete package a stunning FIVE star delight! I loved, loved, LOVED “Murder and the Hurricane”!

Are you kidding me??!! I couldn't choose a suspect, but I followed along until the end, and boy was I gobsmacked by whodunit!!! I enjoyed all the amateur sleuth and the clues they found. The gang is getting really good at this sleuthing stuff.. LOL. A suspenseful, drama filled story with plenty of red herrings to enjoy. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.
