My Seductive Innocent

A Duke and Tavern Girl Regency Romance

A cynical duke. A tavern girl with nothing to lose. A marriage neither of them expected.

Nathaniel Ellison, the powerful Duke of Scarsdale, has sworn never to fall in love. The bitter marriage of his parents taught him one hard lesson—love makes fools of men. When the time comes, Nathan intends to marry only for duty… never for love.

Then he meets Sophia Vane.

Sophia is nothing like the polished ladies of London society. She's a tavern girl with fierce determination, sharp wit, and a desperate plan to escape the cruel father who controls her life—and save her young brother before it's too late.

Nathan should walk away. Instead, he steps in to defend her… and finds himself drawn to the one woman who challenges everything he believes.

When scandal and danger force Nathan and Sophia into an unexpected marriage, their fragile alliance ignites into passion neither of them expected.

But Nathan's fear of love runs deep, and Sophia refuses to surrender her heart to a man who may never trust it.

As betrayal and deadly secrets close in, they must decide whether to protect their hearts…or risk everything for a love neither of them ever believed possible.

Great storyline, well written characters and emotionally engaging. Julie Johnstone really allows her readers to feel the love, despair and anger throughout the book. I got so emotional in parts that I had to remind myself this is only a book. Someone's imaginations, so caaaaalm down. I'd rather get emotionally entangled in a book and feeling more than I wish to feel than not being able to wait to be done with it. A VERY enjoyable read. Purchase with confidence.

What an emotional ride

Julie Johnstone has yet to disappoint! Her stories are always full of romance and entertainment from start to finish! Her characters are life like and she really pulls me back to the setting as if I've personally seen and been to each location. In a great combination of skill, Tim Campbell voices a distinct personality to Johnstone's characters as if I were hearing each individual truly come to life and not the voice of just one man. I highly recommend any of their work, together or seperate!

Truly Excellent!

I have read another book by this author that I really liked, so I decided to try this book. This story was a little slow to draw me in. Once I got into it, I did enjoy it. When I got to the end I was a little disappointed. The story had established a good pace, but the end felt a little rushed. Overall good book.

Good book

I was listening to this book and thinking how much these first two books mirrored the books in the other series. Scarsdale is another Kilgore... same issues, same personality quirks, same "sent away to torment/fake death by greedy cousin" plotline. Sure a few details were different, but it felt like I was reading a knock off of the other book. Not sure which was written first, but if it wasn't the same author I would have been crying plagiarism. Can you plagiarize your own book?
