Ray Bruno and his fiancé Kip Hayes are horrible on paper. Ray is a chaotic millennial writer who's been oversharing his every thought on the internet since he was a teenager; Kip is a pragmatic Gen X medical doctor who values stability and privacy in his personal life above all else.

But somehow it works. The pair has been madly in love ever since they were brought together six years ago in a meet-cute straight out of a romantic comedy. This summer, Ray convinces Kip to join him for an early honeymoon at a famous lux resort in Ray's coastal New England hometown, eschewing the tradition of bachelor parties and hoping to recharge before their end-of-August wedding. But when a surprising encounter with another couple at the resort leads to a series of mishaps and miscommunications, Ray and Kip are forced to look at their many differences in a stark new light—thereby turning the trip into less of a vacation and more of a test: will they be able to work through their issues in time for the big day? Or is this marriage over before it begins?

Overall the story was good, but it was a little slow at times for me. Mostly past and present conversations and the main character spiraling with little action, but it does pick up in the second half. The narrator did a great job distinguishing voices and making you care about the characters, but sometimes what the main characters valued was hard for me to relate to.

Fantastic Narration

It’s OK it’s not bad over all the story uses. It needs a little work but other than that three stars.

While my stress level probably went up a notch or two too much at points this was a great story of love - messy, relatable, deep love. The narrator definitely added tha perfect amount of anxious edge to the main characters. It has plenty of times to laugh balanced with tense moments on this roller coaster of a story. This would make a great movie!

Definitely not low-angst and I loved it!

Ray, at 30 and already divorced, spends the entire book debating if he should marry his older still in the closet fiancé. Answer=NO! At one point his fiancé tells, “Ray, stop talking!” And I agree.
