There is a degree of vulnerability that comes with this kind of biographical artwork and telling of times as we were transitioning from teens into adulthood. New York meant all of that to me. It is the city that built me, it is the city that made me strong and ready to take on the world, and it is also the city that was tough, so tough at times that by the time I graduated college in the late '90s the only thing I wanted to do was leave the city I loved.
