Big City is supposedly the place where dreams come true. As someone just trying to live my life, I can tell you it’s more like a recurring nightmare where dreams get c*ckblocked at every turn.

Especially if you’re a supervillain like me.

The irony is that I have zero powers, despite coming from purebred villain stock, but try telling that to Big City’s beloved hero, Captain Masculine.

This himbo is ruining my research, and if his firepower doesn’t kill me, the sight of him in Lycra surely will. Luckily—or unluckily, in my opinion—my bestie just signed me up for the Bangers dating app and found my perfect match.

If this isn’t the start of my villain arc, I don’t know what is.

Butch

It’s hard feeling like I have to wear a mask every day—that the only value I bring to the table is the sparkling image others have created for me.

Such is the life of being Captain Masculine, Big City’s greatest superhero. This is the existence I was destined for, and I will gladly defend this city against every threat to its people.

Except Doctor Antihero.

I’ve seen countless villains come and go, but something about Antihero intrigues me more than the usual hero-villain encounters should.

It’s because of him that I impulsively signed up for a dating app, hoping a meaningless fling with a local normie will help get my head back in the game. The truth is, what I really want is someone who sees me—the man behind the mask.

But that’s a luxury no superhero can afford.

Not All Himbos Wear Capes is an MM romance between a superhero and a villain. This is not your kid’s superhero book. This is Sin City and The Boys having a love child with extra spicy Spideypool and is meant for 18+ adults who can handle such things.

The Villainous Things series contains standalone books (each with HEAs) that feature interconnected characters and an overarching plot.

OH MY WOW!! This book is gloriously filthy!! And I did not hate it. Like, at all! But fair warning: if you don’t care for lots of hot explicit m/m sex scenes in your books—you’ll probably want to skip this one. Personally, though, I really liked it. And no—I don’t just mean the sexual content. I really enjoyed everything—the characters and the plot were super entertaining! I thought the overall romantic story arc was very well done, and I really enjoyed the background themes that were craftily woven throughout the story. A book that is, in a way, disguised as a kind of funny, sexy, modern superhero romance, really delves much deeper into bigger questions and ideas. It asks the reader to consider who, or what, really decides who’s a hero, and who’s a villain, and what factors contribute to those labels. The story also has us question family loyalty based on blood-relation versus loyalty to the found-family. And that’s just a couple of the underlying themes I appreciated in this book. Besides the deeper stuff, it is great fun, super funny, and just very entertaining!

My only complaint(s) are with the narration. Although I did enjoy the audiobook, I felt like the choice of narrator for Butch wasn’t quite right. For a character that is described as a 22-yr old “himbo” superhero, the narrator’s voice sounded more like a middle-aged nerdy accountant. And…his chapter headings—like, when that narrator would announce the chapter and POV character, and say like, “Chapter 5: Butch,” it was just really weird..??? It just sounded like he used a very small, quiet, and scared-timid-sounding voice, but he then went on to narrate the chapter in his normal-sounding voice. It was just strange. And distracting. I’m not sure which narrator did which character, but I enjoyed everything about the narration for Xaden’s POV chapters. I thought he did a great job embodying Xaden’s character!

Overall, though, I thought it was a very enjoyable and entertaining listen (so maybe I’m just super picky with narrators?). I still give it an overall 5-stars, regardless, because for me it was unputdownable. 💜💜💜💜💜

Gloriously filthy!! Loved it!

Yes Yes Yes! Finally the sexy MM Super Hero Villain book we’ve all been waiting for!! Thank you C Rochelle!

Butch/captain masculine is a perfect repressed good boy super hero. His character is both powerful and sad - he’s like if Homelander had a soul. Xander/Doctor Antihero (think Dr. Horrible as a Dom) is a powerless super villain out to save the oceans against plastics if only his evil super villain family and the city’s hero Captain Masculine would get out of his way.

When a dating app puts these two together let the sexy times and family drama begin!

I loved this book. Can’t wait for book Two. I hope it’s about The Hand of Death. And I’d love to know if Kai has a match making super power. And if Mr. Meow-gi is more than your average cat. Hahaha the sequels are endless!

This book was such a breath of fresh air. It's super original, ridiculously campy, funny, steamy, and just so around a feel-good book. Butch and Zander kept a huge smile on my face throughout the entire book. I really enjoyed the narration. I think both really captured the essence of their characters so well.
I never thought I'd be one for a superhero book, but this one definitely won me over.

super fun
