"Odd People I Have Met - Auntie" is a short story that was published in the New York Times' Sunday Magazine on April 2, 1899. It was written by Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924), a Victorian priest, antiquarian, novelist, and scholar. Baring-Gould is remembered particularly as a writer of hymns, the best-known being "Onward, Christian Soldiers". The tale and characters of "Odd People" was subsequently incorporated into another short story, "In a Quiet Village", in 1900.
