The cooper Kharl has no sooner taken possession of the estate bestowed upon him by Lord Ghrant of Austra when he is summoned back to the capital. Vintage Modesitt, but this book and the first (Wellspring of Chaos) are two of my absolute favorites. I really appreciated the maturity of cooper Kharl. Great supporting cast, too.

Excellent narrator, very entertaining. The storyline held my attention throughout. Everything a good book should be and a bit more. The saga of Recluce have all been excellent and entertaining. I look forward to hearing the next one!!
