Mr. Darcy should have walked away. He didn't. After the catastrophic proposal at Hunsford, most men would have retreated. Darcy returns — with humility, purpose, and a love that will not yield. But Elizabeth Bennet is not the same woman she was in Kent. And she is not sure she is ready to trust the man she once despised.
In this emotionally rich Pride and Prejudice variation, Fitzwilliam Darcy does not surrender to rejection. After the disastrous proposal at Hunsford, he does not vanish — he chooses to stay and fight for the woman he loves.
'Darcy is relentless and persistent in his pursuit' - reviewer
In this variation, persistence replaces pride. Their journey unfolds not in dramatic declarations but in quiet gestures, emotional honesty, and persistent love.
- Clean historical romance with emotional depth
- Second-chance love and friends-to-lovers arcs
- A more emotionally articulate Darcy
- A heroine who learns to trust again -- slowly, honestly, beautifully
- Jane has a chance at love with a new character
- Companion story website with outtakes, illustrations, and Regency info

Great story, terrible narration

Great character development I really like the twist on the characters. It was too long in parts and the ended abruptly.

It took me entirely out of the story.
Jane at one point says that she thinks that Lizzie needs to be put in her place, and continually thinks of Darcy as being cruelly rejected.
The way that Jane, the viscount and Darcy treat her all make me feel that Lizzie should absolutely reject him.
They all seem to disregard how terribly he had treated her for months - her rejection was entirely correct. Instead they encourage almost stalker like behavior and romanticize it.
It really makes me angry how much Lizzie's feelings are invalidated.
Darcy sneaks back into town and doesn't reach out to Mr Bennett to declare his intentions and apologize for the way that he left. So much of Darcy's behavior is a breech of propriety.
