Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.

She came to Amish country to hide. But the killer found her anyway.

Violet Jackson is a survivor. After the shocking murder of her best friend in New York City, she flees to the only place she ever felt safe: her mother's estate in the quiet Amish town of Hunters Ridge.

Desperate for a distraction from her mounting panic attacks, she takes a bookkeeping job with Theo Cooper, the last man she expected to see again. Once the bad boy who shattered her heart at prom, Theo is now a protective single father fighting to keep his family's lumber business alive.

But the shadows of the city have followed her to Hunters Ridge.

Sabotaged tires. A warehouse "accident." A firebombing that nearly kills Theo's young son. Someone isn't just watching Violet. They're closing in.

Is the predator hunting her the same monster who struck in New York? Or does someone in this peaceful community harbor a deadly secret of their own?

To survive, Violet must face her past and trust the one man she once walked away from. Because in Hunters Ridge, the quiet of the country can turn deadly without warning.

The story was decent, but listening to this book with virtual voice was torturous. It was hard to follow the storyline when the emphasis would be on the wrong part of the sentence. I highly recommend avoiding any virtual voice offerings.

Loved the story. Hate the AI narration. Definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series

Great story. Terrible narration.

No emotion in the reading. Suspenseful plot with completely flat voice. Scenes like “Oh. No. Please don’t hurt me!” Read with no feeling made it painful to listen to. I would have quit many times, but I was interested in the storyline. Now I know not to start any book with computer generated reading.

Computer generated reader RUINED it!

The AI reading is horrific. It has as much emotion as a primary school child reading aloud.
