Sun, Moon, and Stars marries magic and science, featuring a road trip, deepening friendship, and a world where choice is the most sacred value.

The books feature the continuing adventures of asexual Sun mage Zal and nonbinary cyborg Torian. In this second story, Zal and Torian finally make it to the capital, but things don't go exactly as planned...

I loved the narrator ( I think I could listen to a telephone directory, read by Greg Boudreaux) but the story was good, too - unusual twist of Daniken’s theory :) I’m so waiting for more of this series 😁

Not so obvious story with an outstanding narrative

I’m hoping to find out what happens next. Will they succeed in reaching the new town soon?

Awsome

I am sad these are so short. Russell is very good at thwholesome queer fantasy stories. A bit on the square and corny side, but that’s okay.

wholesome adventure story

Book two in the Sun, Moon, and Stars series, "Principles" continues Zal and Torian's relationship. It's sweet and slow burn with lots of hugs, hand holding and forehead kisses. The overall plotline gets darker and more dangerous. Someone on the ruling mage Council, the Tine, knew about the scientist observers and was planning to overtake the Capital with the help of "Mage" Edris. They were unaware that Edris was dead and the scientists fled.
Great worldbuilding, with new villains and allies. Some of the plot lines were resolved, but the overarching plot remains unresolved. Little hints of a world developing like the invention of a printing press. Created in secret because the Tine wasn't interested in letting go of control. It ends on a HFN even as the danger increases.
Once again Greg Boudreaux is the story's narrator. A perfect match for a wonderful story. One of the best narrators out there, And what a treat when he sang "Frère Jacques" .
I received an advanced audio copy of this story and this is my review.
