“Revenge” immediately throws readers into the action. As bullets fly, FBI agent Micah French finds himself in the back of an ambulance fighting to save his partner’s life. Yet, as he enters the hospital his life is thrown further into disarray as he encounters the surgeon assigned to save Jeziah, Finley Herald.

Finley Herald is the girl that got away, disappearing the day after turning down Micah’s proposal. It isn’t until a decade later, as Micah’s partner rushes to Tampa General Hospital with a gunshot wound, that they reunite. Now, as Finley holds Jeziah’s life in her hands, Micah must trust her once again as their worlds suddenly collide.

Unsurprisingly, “Revenge” is a plot fueled by revenge. Thrown into the crosshairs, the leader of a Mexican gang won’t stop until he’s exacted revenge for his brother’s death, even if that means Finley, Micah, and all involved are killed in the process. Yet as SWAT team members and reporters go missing, and prison guards and patients are under attack, it’s the romance and faith swelling behind the scenes that grabs readers’ attention.

I found myself enjoying the intertwined elements of faith and values Micah holds close, especially in such a violent line of work. Author A. M. Holloway takes a refreshing approach to FBI suspense as she injects humanizing values and life experiences into the depth of Micah’s character.

As “Revenge” unfolds, the violence and intrigue won’t stop until Juan’s brother’s death is avenged, but Micah suddenly has something to fight for, and he won’t lose Finley a second time. Holloway pens an explosive series debut as readers instantly become entangled in the revenge plot within.
