Dennis Miller is back, and he is Ranting Again in this hilarious compendium of wit, wisdom, and righteous outrage. This is good news for all of us who fume at the country's lack of common sense, and seethe at the absurdity of the daily headlines.

Setting his sights higher and wider than ever before, Dennis Miller is at the top of his game, unleashing his unique brand of scathing wit on anything and everything. Taking on such targets as illegal immigration, the sobriety movement, the American school system, and men who wear tight T-shirts even though they have big breasts, Miller proves that nobody is safe from his hilarious yet hard-hitting scrutiny.

Showcasing Dennis Miller's trademark blend of wide-ranging allusions, thought-provoking insights, and outrageous opinions, Ranting Again is a brilliant collection that is his sharpest and funniest yet.(P) and ©1998 Dennis Miller, Bantam Doubleday Dell Audio Publishing, A Division of Random House Inc.

Critic reviews

In Ranting Again, Dennis Miller digs deeper than ever before, tackling subjects like:

Smoking--"If you're saying you didn't know cigarettes were bad for you, you're lying through that hole in your trachea."

Bad drivers--"Driving in L.A. you get cut off more frequently than Ted Kennedy bar hopping on St. Patrick's Day."

American schools--"This country's educational system couldn't be more poorly funded and badly directed if the Secretary of Education were Ed Wood."

Immigration--"Foreigners do not come to this country and take our jobs. Face it, you don't want to be a busboy, or a maid, or the roadside Linus Pauling hawking citrus on the traffic island."

He may call them rants, but they are just basic truisms. Miller is always on the mark with comments on things that affect our every day lives. He speaks from the heart, but uses his head. With tongue in cheek he finds a way to say exactly what you've been thinking. Quite often I have to "go back and listen to that again." Listen to this, then listen again and believe it.

One of the high points in comedy in the mid to late nineties was the rants delivered by Dennis Miller on far ranging subjects. Though both the material and the delivery were polished, the ideas behind them seemed like the type of thing that could occur spontaneously between colleagues, siblings, or couples who've been together for awhile. Even though it was apparent even twenty years ago that his politics leaned to the right he wasn't the reactionary he became after the beginning of the Iraq War. Highly literate and intelligent this is an excellent work of comedy by a man who was once extremely funny.

Bitter, angry, arrogant, sarcastic, intolerant of stupidity.... I LOVE IT!!!! Absolutely, my favorite comedian / writer / social commentator. The infrequent obscenity is used as an emphatic particle, and NOT the punch line as is the case in low-brow comedy. Give Miller a shot! You'll love him!

Incredible!!

I enjoy Dennis Miller's humor, both his very old SNL stuff and some of his more recent material.

However, "Ranting Again" is dull and trite. Plus, it's abridged.

It wasn't horrible--but then I really like Dennis Miller. Not even recommended for fans.
