We all need emotional blinders: the etiquette that keeps society smoothly moving depends on it. But when you absolutely must rely on another person, you have to be able to assess them objectively. In RED FLAGS, author Wendy L. Patrick shares simple strategies anyone can use to spot deceptive or downright dangerous people who use ingratiation and social convention to draw in and lull victims. Readers will learn how even the most skeptical of us use rose-colored lenses on those around us, in three sections:-Blinded by Desire-from the alluring lenses of attraction and positive attention to the blindness of marital "bliss" and the distorted lens of delusion-Overlooking Red Flags in a Professional Setting-how reassuring proximity and the false security of credibility and similarity can lead to costly mistakes -Be Afraid of What You Can't See-the ultimate cost of wearing emotional blinders around the truly disturbed/criminal, from sexual predation to domestic abuse, stalking and cyberstalking. Readers will learn how to:-avoid selective attention-observe people over time (bad guys rely on first impressions)-ask questions: most people's favorite topic is themselves-cybersleuth to verify information and track down inconsistencies

You need this book if you:-want to know if a potential boyfriend is trustworthy-are interviewing or hiring new employees-are selecting anyone to take care of your children-are lending money or property-have partners in business

FLAG is practical and easy to remember tool. So much time and headache can be saved. I found myself definitively shaving some persons and bad behaviours from my life.

Thank you Wendy Patrick for ending on a high note. There are many, many more green than red. Your book helps us recognise and acknowledge them.

The author nails it! Highly recommend!!

I don’t want to know what other books are going to tell me. I bought this one and I wanted the content in it. Several minutes into the book she’s still talk about what other books are going to tell me. Wish I could get a refund and get something interesting and concise.

It’s probably got good info, but

While the book has some good information, the author seems generally biased against men with typical male denegrating stereotypes and generally favorable to women, giving more favorable excuses for otherwise less than moral behavior. For example, most men in this book are assumed to be pedophiles, addicted to sports, lazy, or moochers. Few examples of general negative female stereotypes are given indicating to me a mind that is generally not favorable to men.

Very sexist. (not in a good way)

To me this seemed to get really negative, and the solution on how to deal with these people seemed vague. It did have content about social situations I found interesting, however it had many broad sweeping generalities. I got a bit frustrated while listening to this one, stopped it, backed it up, re-listened then felt myself getting agitated frequently. People are frustrating enough all ready to deal with, listening to how irritating they can be seemed to be just the same.

This was not really what I expected.
