Fifteen years ago Ellen Smith vanished from the woods near her small Welsh village. Never to be seen again.

Eight people were in the woods that night: eight splintered lives, eight people hiding a terrible secret. But who can remember the truth?

Now, Ellen’s best friend, Detective Ava Cole is all grown up back in the village where it all began, and everyone is asking the same question.

What really happened to Ellen?

I stuck with the whole story although the narration was hard to follow at times. I couldn’t tell which character was speaking because they all sounded the same. The characters from LA sounded just weird, which was a little distracting. And author had an LA person use words like “bloke”.

As far as the story, I thought the main character did some dumb things & I found the storyline frustrating at times. I just wanted to get to the end.

I’m sorry to say that I would not recommend this book.

I liked the story but about halfway through I almost stopped listening because I couldn't handle the main character's accent. she is supposed to be Welsh but has been living in the states in LA so is supposed to sound American. it sounds like a strainedhorrible impression of Abad southern accent but she was supposed to have been in LA. it is so HARD to listen to.

horrible accents..good story

I wasn’t a huge fan. It was an easy listen but predictable ending. I could not stand the narrators voice for some reason!!

Predictable

The hardest thing to get through was the readers horrible “American” accent. She couldn’t decide if she wanted it to be Southern or upper Midwestern. This was so distracting! It would have been better if she has left the pretend accent out of the reading

Sometimes it’s hard for me to really get into a book, but not this one! Wonderful story.

The authors side note at the ending really moved me to tears. Thank you!!
