Ancelet Bay, Louisiana, on the surface is a peaceful and quiet little town. Robin Alexander/Lori Prince are my favorite dream team for lesbian fiction. I love to laugh, they deliver. The beginning was a bit lighter on the humor than I have become used to, but was still engaging. The ending was pure Robin Alexander, which means I laughed heartily.

When I started this book, I figured it was going to be another amusing story from Robin Alexander, which it was! But it was so much more as well! The depth she took in writing Rusty's character and her issues with her mother and how it affected her life was noteworthy. When you listen to this book, the humor might distract you from the dreams Rusty has, but don't let it. Listen to how she progresses with her own successes.
The character of Stella had me rolling! I've know a woman similar to her and I could picture this woman doing the things Stella did and the exasperated but loving manner Mona had with her was something special. This is well worth a listen!

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The humor aspect was great, but it was also just a good story. I was expecting a classic “new in town” plot and was pleasantly surprised that it was a bit more complex than that. It felt original without being too outlandish (even if it is a bit kooky at times). Lori Prince was, as always, an amazing voice actor.
