Today, Telran Whiting is as excited as he’s ever been. It is his eighteenth birthday. This is the day he becomes an adult, so his fate will be determined in his home city’s Sage Tower. There he will get his class. Most people get what’s known as a city class. Those folks will spend their life in a town, or on a farm, doing work that is necessary for civilization to exist.

A large minority of people receive what is known as an adventurer class. Those people carry out quests and, in general, protect those with city classes. The world is full of monsters, dangerous beasts, and evil people. The people with city classes often have few defenses against those threats.

Tel’s greatest desire is to have an adventurer class, but that won’t be up to him. The sage provides eighteen-year-olds with a small number of choices as to what their class will be. When he meets the sage, Tel is given no choices. The sage tells him what class he is. Tel’s class is the rarest of them all. Battlemage is a class that has many advantages over all others, but a great deal is expected from the very few that have that class. Action & Adventure Fantasy
