Reformed gang boss Dante Pope is out after a four-year stretch in prison. But freedom has found him faster than he’s ready for. His only brother hates him, and with nothing but PTSD and a newfound fascination with plants for company, the outside world is a terrifying place.

A prisoner rehabilitation scheme lands him at a stately home that might as well be the moon. Working for gorgeous gardener Sid is a welcome distraction - his shoulders are broad, his rugged jaw unshaven, and his long, tanned legs?

Wow.

But Sid has problems of his own. A life-changing disease has left him limited in ways he can’t bear and accepting help, even from a stranger, makes him want to curl up and die.

If Dante would let him.

Newsflash: He won’t, and he’s not a stranger for long. With his dark smile and sinister ink, Dante Pope is the most beautiful man Sid has ever seen. Life is hard, but falling for each other is easy.

Sunshine and shadows.

Old ghosts can haunt Dante all they like. Loving Sid is the only salvation he’ll ever need.

Salvation is a sweetly angsty stand-alone MM romance novel in the Darkest Skies series. Expect: second chances, forced proximity, friends-to-lovers, and buckets of hurt/comfort themed loveliness. Content warnings for childhood trauma, violence, and chronic illness.

I really enjoy Dan Calley reading Garrett Leigh - a match made in heaven!

Garrett Leigh always writes such lovely hurt/comfort romances, and Dante and Sid are candidates for some seriously overdue happily ever after. It's fabulous watching these two dance around each other till they finally give up and dive into bed. Of course, their chemistry is smoking hot and Leigh writes gorgeous sex scenes... beautifully performed by Dan Calley.

The story is so sweet and add in the sexy as hell narration this is a beautiful listen. This is the slow burn of smoldering attraction that I love. Then there is a bit of action that makes this an all around satisfying story.

Hot Story with Hot Narration 🔥

Salvation, while part of a series, can be read as a stand-alone. The characters are compelling and so achingly real. Their love felt authentic. I dinged one star because the book felt long toward the end. Still worth listening to, though.

Worth the listen!

Garrett Leigh has become one of my main go-to authors for stories with weight, with meat on their bones, and enough emotion to end in catharsis. Salvation is one of those stories, the forte of the crescendo that started midway through Redemption and slowly built through Deliverance.
Dante Pope seemed irredeemable, but prison knocked him all the way down. Sid helps build him back up, and they fit perfectly together.
Dan Calley's gruff yet velvety voice brings these men to life, and I know I will listen to them again and again.

I love a redemption story

Groundskeeper Sid and parolee Dante meet when Dante is assigned to work at the estate where Sid is the gardener. Their attraction is instant, but each man has baggage, both mental and physical, that keeps them apart. Will they allow their budding friendship to grow into something more?

Garrett Leigh delivers a slow-burn romance. Because of Dante’s post-incarceration PTSD and Sid’s debilitating disease, they are both opposed to starting a relationship, despite clearly being compatible. Dante, due to his past violent criminal behavior, doesn’t feel he deserves love and Sid doesn’t want to be a burden. As they continue to get to know each other, they each realize that it just might be love that will carry them through their difficult times. Light on the angst and heavy on the hurt comfort, ‘Salvation’ ends with a well-won happily-ever-after.

The steamier scenes are well-suited to the story happening around them. The sexual relationship starts tentatively and grows as Sid and Dante become more confident in their love. Full of emotion and tenderness, these glimpses serve to enhance the overall romantic feel of Leigh’s story.

Dan Calley does a great job with narration. His performance goes a long way to bringing me into Leigh’s story.
