I confess, while I have watched Macy for awhile, I was always more of a casual viewer. This book turned me into a bonafide fan. Macy’s voice is refreshing, entertaining and relatable without being snooty or condescending. She’s detailed and specific, without sounding overly pretentious. No one has written a book like this before, specifically speaking towards my demographic and my generation. (Thats not to say that people of all ages won’t enjoy this book, but that it will likely hit a soft spot for Millenials and Older Gen Z, because we are some of the first generations to consider the impact fashion waste will have on the future.) This book is so CURRENT. However, the photos and graphics and spreads in the book were such a callback to the 2000s golden age of teen magazines that Macy obviously wanted to pay tribute to. It gave the whole book such a vibrant feel! Learning about Macy’s story and everything she’s overcome, about how she got her start from nothing also gave me a newfound respect for her as a person, and not just a social media personality. I loved this book so much, that I bought another copy at Macy’s signing in NYC and she very kindly encouraged me in my quest to get my archaic minded mother to stop shopping first hand. Slowly but surely, she said. And that is how I intend to convert everyone else I know, by gifting them this book. The audio book is one I’ll be able to take EVERYWHERE. Everyone I know is getting one for Christmas! If Macy ever writes anything else, I’ll be first in line for it🥹🫶🏽
