One Ranger leads the way.

A U.S. Army Ranger sniper finds himself on his own and on the move far downrange and beyond the wire in an epic fantasy world filled with deadly monsters and dangerous foes in a total battle royale for glory, hoard—and flat-out survival.

Adrift on the Sea of Riddles and lost in a dangerous world of epic fables, Sgt. Thor and his anti-materiel sniper rifle, Mjölnir, must survive brutal pirates, the darkest sorcery, and a catastrophic shipwreck on a strange island steeped in arcane mystery and containing the remains of a lost civilization guarding an ancient artifact of great and terrible power.

Grim enemies and intrigue abound…

To defeat a Pirate Necromancer and his army from the east seeking to manipulate a battle between the warring Fates, this elite tip-of-the-spear warrior must use his modern warfighter skills and battle-tested leadership to forge an unlikely savage fighting force to pit against heavily armed enemies all too real, and, for some, far more fantastic than the myths and epics of a long-ago past.

In a dangerous fantasy world, one man must move farther, faster, and fight harder than foes seeking to kill him with might, magic, treachery, and by whatever means possible. But U.S. Army Rangers don’t die easily.

Sword and sorcery meets modern warfare in this epic fantasy world both familiar and new. Find your edge…

Okay, I know there is no talker in this. However, talkers writing/speaking style without actual Tucker is not a good combination of my opinion. Story is great. The floor was real D&D. In fact, the series of books have brought me back to playing DND with a character, like a ranger from the ruin. My character always says things like “Rangers going to Ranger “. And all kinds of army, ranger idioms, LOL, good time!

Good idea not enough Talker

Really hoped the absence of Talker would cut down on the flowery verbage. How can a story about a man that barely speaks use so many words to say so little?

Shut up and shoot someone

This was adrenalin in word form. Testosterone as it is meant to be.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read a GOOD book about the warrior’s path, but this is excellent. Thor, the main character is driven by what he is; a wandering warrior with an honor code. His fights are existential, not emotional. I can’t tell you what a relief it is to see this simplicity in this kind of story. No pointless qualms or internal conflicts about who and what he is. This character dynamic is often attempted, but rarely succeeds with writers. Not this time. This time it’s an unquestionable success. THIS is how a story like this should be written.

The narrator, who has narrated the other books of Forgotten Ruin does a superb job of telling a different story about a different character.

This book is the opposite of disappointment. Five Stars across all categories. Highly recommend.

Wow. Simply wow.
