The fleets of Mars have been forced into retreat—but the shadow of their power remains!

Mage-Captain Roslyn Chambers is trapped behind enemy lines on the allied world the Royal Martian Navy failed to save from the alien Reezh. Her official mission is to wait because her Mage-Queen has given her word: Chimera will be free.

But as atrocity and oppression mount on the occupied world, the same drive that led her to become a starship captain turns her against her. The innocent cry out, and Roslyn finds she must answer.

To honor her oaths, Roslyn Chambers will become a deserter. A symbol. A leader.

But against impossible odds, how far can she go before her fight makes things worse for the very people she is trying to save?

Nice story development. I would like more to happen in these books to keep the bigger storyline going but it was interesting as a step. Still an odd fixation with woman’s anatomy that seems out of place for the story. Think there are better ways to develop characters. Would have been nicer to intermingle the last book and this one into a single story.

Good story, nice pace

This book picks up several streams of previous books & rapidly builds them into a crescendo of story telling, plots & surprises.

One of the best Starship mage books.

Highly recommend reading if you have enjoyed any of the other SM books, it could even be read as an introduction to the series.

Looking forward to Starships Mage books 19.

A never ending stream of surprises & story telling

Love the series and was so ready for the next book. Of all the books this was the first one I had to get over the hump of starting a new book. In the end it got there and was enjoyable.

Little slow to begin but does not disappoint at the end.

Another Great Story & Production

I understood the brief foray into Rosalind Chambers in the first 3 books she was tha MC of. The character that kept me coming back to the series over and over was Damien. He is not even a footnote any of the books since Rosalind came in. This feels like a bait and switch. I am officially done with any of Glynn Stewart's books. I feel cheated out of the characters that drew me into the series to begin with. I am so very disappointed.

I thought Starship's Mage was Damien Montgomery??
