In Summit Falls, silence isn’t just a habit. It’s survival. When a young woman’s death is quietly closed as an accident, most of the town accepts the explanation without question. They always do.

The sheriff signs the report. The town doctor confirms the cause. Life moves on. But reporter Elle Jensen sees something others refuse to see. A detail that doesn’t fit.

A wound no one wants to explain. A story buried beneath years of carefully protected secrets. As Elle begins asking questions, the walls around her begin to close in. Doors stop opening.

Phone calls go unanswered. Friendly faces grow cautious. The people who run Summit Falls are powerful—and they are used to being obeyed. The sheriff insists there’s nothing to investigate.

The doctor signs off on another clean report. And the town, as it always has, looks the other way. But Elle can’t. What she uncovers points to something far darker than a single death.

Beneath the quiet streets and friendly smiles lies a system built on silence—one that protects its own at any cost.

And the deeper Elle digs, the clearer the message becomes: Some stories are meant to stay buried. But Elle Jensen has never been very good at looking away.

This was a solid thriller and and great listen. The main character Elle was immediately relatable and the narration fit her personality perfectly. Like Elle I couldn't let the story go until getting answers about what the town was hiding and had to quickly finish the book as I couldn't stop listening. It's a "page turner" in every sense with shorter chapters that leave you wanting more.

Good Pacing, Great Story

I had read this thriller before getting it on audible and the narrator had me pulled in and absorbed as if I’d never heard the story before. So well written I felt like I was there. I applaud K.L. Kaane and can’t wait for the next book.

Girls are being murdered in a small town. Since this is set in an idyllic beautiful town, no one wants to see anything below the surface until she comes back to town. The heroine risks everything to find out why these girls are dying. The book keeps you wanting to hear just one more chapter. Makes you want to take one more lap around the parking lot just so you can finish the chapter.

Captivating story

“She Couldn’t Look Away” is a gripping story that doesn’t shy away from darker moments, while still feeling very real like something that could happen in any small town. The plot is full of unexpected twists and just when I thought I had it figured out, it surprised me again right up until the end.
The writing is so vivid and engaging that I felt completely immersed, as if I were right there with the characters. It’s the kind of story that keeps you hooked and eager to find out what happens next.
The narrator also deserves special praise. She did an excellent job bringing the story to life. Her voice, pacing, and emotion added so much depth to the experience and made it even harder to stop listening.
I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who loves a suspenseful, can’t-put-it-down story.

First, I have to comment on the narration. It was perfect. Just the right amount of character, but neutral enough to let your imagination free. Sometimes narrators impose their ideas on the characters, and it can be distracting. This narrator was able to ride that fine line between an engaging, believable performance and letting you sink into the story and be fully immersed in it. Secondly, the story features a strong central female character who seeks the truth despite the forces around her that seek to keep her quiet. This is an enjoyable read made even better by the narration.

A page turner!
