She was supposed to die at sixteen.

Instead, something ancient chose her.

Freya Thorne failed the sacred trial - no bond, no beast, no future. Just exile… and a blade meant to end her life.

But when it fell, the Ashen Chain awakened.

Now she carries a power that doesn’t protect - it remembers. Every life it’s taken. Every ruin it’s left behind. And the more she uses it, the less of herself remains.

If she loses control, she won’t just die.

She’ll become the weapon that destroys everything.

He was trained for one purpose: obedience.

Bound to the throne and sworn to hunt what the realm fears most, he should have executed her the moment she survived. Instead, he’s forced to guard her… to stay close enough to kill her if the Chain takes hold.

They should be enemies.

They should never have touched.

But the closer they get, the more dangerous the truth becomes:

If he chooses her, he betrays his kingdom.

If she chooses him, she risks giving the Chain exactly what it wants.

Because the Ashen Chain didn’t choose her to survive.

It chose her to destroy

and it will use anyone she loves to do it.

The books are extremely good. I waited so long to see if an audio would come out. I hate Virtual voice. This is actually my first time spending money on horrible Virtual voice. I did it because I love the trilogy so much. Buy the books!!! Unless you want something you've read a thousand times with the same old same. This story is so unique and cool. it's intense and enjoyable. It has dragons if you're looking for that stand by. But it has a great different avenue to travel if you are bored of the same jargen getting written over and over with different names (if you're lucky the names are different) There is love and spice. I am so utterly disappointed that this came out in virtual voice. So disappointed that I even contacted a narrator. I've never messaged a narrator before, but Samantha Brentmoore said she'd be glad to do this. But I think the author has to contact her. idk but this will be the first and last time I buy virtual voice anything. It's like there's exclamation points everywhere where there shouldn't be. And none were there should be. You would think in this day and age virtual voice would be better. I did it to also support the author IF she gets anything out of it. But seriously get the books they're great. especially if you're like me and go through hundreds of books a year This is a Great unique story that I can honestly say I have not read before.

The book is awesome
