Love animal rescues, dogs. lambs, miniature horses, miniature donkeys, pet emus, and more? How about Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog Day? If so, then this is the book for you.

Highland Ranch was our decade-long adventure playing with lambs, rescuing miniature donkeys and horses, raising rare sheep for petting zoos, operating an organic orchard and garden, along with caring for our many, many dogs.

Highland Ranch is located a few miles from Gobbler's Knob, Punxsutawney, the home of Groundhog Day and flooded with drunken college students and tourists from around the world every February Second.

This book contains the highs and lows, surprises and expected complications associated with rural life. Most of the animals thrived; a few, fortunately a very few, didn't but on the whole it was a very positive experience ended mostly by our inevitable increasing ages and my severe physical problems that made it impossible to continue caring for the animals properly.

Numerous, interesting short chapters on the results of a decision to begin raising sheep on a small ranch. Light-hearted and informative beginner's guide to success after overcoming numerous unanticipated problems. Makes for easy and fun reading with valuable life lessons included, learned from living with and learning from other intelligent creatures. I liked the wit and enjoyment that the authors display. Their sheep and other animals became more like adored pets through time. Worthwhile.
